Mike Castle Fails Conservatism

February 21, 2010

The American Conservative Union Fund in its latest report provides the voting records of every member of Congress (House and Senate) and ranks them in accordance to their votes on issues.  In this report, Congressman Mike Castle scored a whopping 56 percent for his votes in the first session of the 111th Congress.

Out of 25 votes, Mike Castle voted in support of conservatism on 14 of those 25 judged votes, and voted for liberal positions on 11 of those votes.  Here is the breakdown:

Where Congressman Mike Castle FAILED Conservatism:

  • Supported SCHIP (HR2, 7/14/2009)
  • Supported Omnibus Appropriations (HR1105, 2/25/2009)
  • Supported Mortgage Loan Modifications (HR1106, 3/5/2009)
  • Voted Against Balancing the Budget in 10 Years (HRes 85, 4/2/2009)
  • Supported Hate Crimes Bill (HR 1913, 4/29/2009)
  • Supported Parental Leave for Federal Employees (HR626, 6/4/2009)
  • Supported Cash for Clunkers (HR2751, 6/9/2009)
  • Supported funding for Legal Services Corporation (HR2847, 6/18/2009)
  • Voted Against Missle Defense (HR2647, 6/25/2009)
  • Supported Cap & Trade (HR2454, 6/26/2009)
  • Supported funding for Planned Parenthood (HR3293, 6/24/2009)

In the first session, Congressman Castle voted against missle defense, against the sanctity of life and for increased government spending.  Once again, Congressman Mike Castle (R?-DE) FAILS Conservatism.   Delaware only sends one Congressman to Washington, and Mike Castle is not the best.
