Changes in the national average of the six common pollutants monitored by the EPA, 1980 to 2008:

 

Carbon Monoxide:  79% decrease.

 

Ground level Ozone:  25% decrease.

 

Lead:  92% decrease.

 

Nitrogen Dioxide:  46% decrease.

 

Particulate matter:  19% decrease.

 

Sulfur Dioxide:  71% decrease.
