Acorn Would Be Proud

September 27, 2009

The recent election in Afghanistan let

us know why we should not be there. How

can we expect Americans to fight and die

in a country where in some places the

voter turnout was 100% for Hamid

Karzai.

If you can’t run a free election, why be

there?

The last time I checked we were not there for them. The fact that we made them hold an election in the middle of a civil war threatening their survivial is the problem. The election should have been put off a year, we should surge, train, and defeat the Taliban. We saw in Palistine and other areas that elections when your opponents are trying to get votes by force and intimidation is not a be all. That should not even figure into the fundamental strategy.
