New Wallet Grab…U.S. VAT Tax?

May 28, 2009

The Democrats have never met a tax they didn’t like.   And now the talk is about implementing a national sales tax or VAT (Value Added Tax).

While a national sales tax is equivalent to a fair tax, this is ONLY good if you suspend the progressive income tax system.  Given the bleak financial state of affairs in Washington, this will be an additional tax burden on the already cash-strapped taxpayers.

Consumer spending has been shaky lately due to increased unemployment, higher home foreclosures, higher personal debt and discouraging employment opportunities.  The national sales tax could backfire as consumers keep the money close to their vest.

Why won’t the Democrats adopt the proven tax cut policy?  Probably, because it works.

Consumer spending is the largest component of our economy and we are going to tax it 20%. Does anyone REALLY believe that the federal government will be as carefully with that money that you have worked for as you are? If it moves tax it, if it continues to move regulate it, and if it stops moving subsidize it. The country started with a revolution with a legitimate protest of egregious taxes. They had taxes on Tea and now we have it on everything else. Liberty is the greatest aspect of our country. Socialism is a blight on this country because its citizens will trade liberty for security.
