Gov Markell Is Not Telling the Whole Truth On the Budget

March 11, 2009

The ‘Reality Show’ is not so real. Many of us have heard the $606 million dollar shortfall for 2010.

Not so fast, that amount is the gap between “projected” revenues which over time have always gone up but now have dropped.

Delaware’s budget has never been constructed on reality but on making sure we spend the “projected” revenues not producing value for taxpayers.

If you look at this year’s budget total plus look at the federal ‘stimulus’ money the gap is about one third of the doomsday figure.

The real question should be what are going to be the new taxes and the tax increases?
